Wootton Rivers is situated on the historic Kennet and Avon Canal, where you can take beautiful canal walks. Boat trips and canal cruises can be organised from Pewsey Wharf Canal Charter to take you down stream to the village of Pewsey, home of the oldest carnival in Wiltshire.
Wootton Rivers is set in the ancient royal hunting ground of Savernake Forest established in the 11th Century by William Conqueror. Although the Savernake Forest is no longer used as a hunting ground it is still possible to enjoy a wide variety of field sports there with the Gauntlett Sporting Company, especially clay pigeon shooting.
